MISys EXT: Browser-Based Manufacturing Access for the Shop Floor

Production does not happen at a desk.

MISys EXT gives authorized employees browser-based access to key MISys Manufacturing functions from tablets, smartphones, laptops and other web-enabled devices on your configured network.

Receive material at the dock. Move inventory in the warehouse. Start and complete production activity on the shop floor. Record labor. Scan barcodes. Count inventory. Print labels.

Enter manufacturing activity where it happens instead of writing it down and entering it later.

Browser Access Without Moving MISys to the Cloud

MISys EXT is not a hosted cloud version of MISys Manufacturing.

Your MISys Manufacturing system remains installed in your existing environment. MISys EXT uses Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) to provide browser-based access to selected MISys Manufacturing functions through the network environment you define.

That means employees can use familiar web-enabled devices throughout your operation without requiring the full MISys Manufacturing desktop application at every workstation.

Your manufacturing system stays where you want it. Your employees gain access where they need it.

Take Manufacturing Transactions to the Shop Floor

The closer data entry is to the actual manufacturing activity, the less opportunity there is for paperwork, delayed entry and forgotten transactions.

MISys EXT allows employees to record activity directly as work is performed.

Inventory and Stock Movement

Perform inventory transactions from the warehouse, stockroom or production area instead of returning to an office workstation.

  • Process item transfers
  • Process assembly transfers
  • Process supplier transfers
  • Process component transfers
  • Use dispensing tools
  • Work with Bin Tracking
  • Work with Serial/Lot Tracking

Purchasing and Receiving

Bring receiving transactions closer to the loading dock or receiving area.

  • Process purchase order receipts
  • Process purchase order returns
  • Scan information directly into transaction fields
  • Update MISys Manufacturing as material is received

Work Order Processing

Process released Work Orders from a browser-enabled device wherever production activity is taking place.

  • Reserve Work Orders
  • Allocate Work Orders
  • Complete Work Orders

Manufacturing Order Processing

Record Manufacturing Order activity directly from the production floor.

  • Start released Manufacturing Orders
  • Start individual components
  • Record component scrap
  • Complete Manufacturing Orders
  • Process production activity as it occurs

Record Shop Operations in Real Time

MISys EXT works with Shop Floor Control to bring detailed operation processing directly to employees on the manufacturing floor.

  • Start Shop Operations
  • Complete Shop Operations
  • Record time transactions
  • Record direct labor
  • Record scrap
  • Manage multiple active Operation Timers

Instead of recording production activity on paper and entering it later, employees can update manufacturing records while the work is being performed.

Barcode Scanning Where You Need It

MISys EXT supports Bluetooth barcode scanners so users can populate transaction fields by scanning instead of manually typing item information.

Depending on the transaction, information can be entered using:

  • The built-in Finder
  • A Bluetooth barcode scanner
  • Manual entry

This makes EXT especially useful for inventory movement, receiving, physical inventory and shop-floor transactions where speed and accuracy matter.

Print Barcode Labels

MISys EXT can print barcode labels using supported mobile and stationary Zebra Link-OS printers.

This gives employees the ability to scan, transact and label inventory without repeatedly returning to a fixed desktop workstation.

Make Physical Inventory More Mobile

Physical inventory is difficult enough without carrying paper count sheets around the warehouse.

MISys EXT allows users to create Physical Inventory batches and add detail lines from browser-enabled devices.

Employees can move through inventory locations with a tablet or mobile device and record counts closer to the stock they are actually counting.

Connect EXT With the Manufacturing Tools You Already Use

MISys EXT works directly with important MISys Manufacturing capabilities, including:

  • Shop Floor Control
  • Serial/Lot Tracking
  • Bin Tracking
  • Work Orders
  • Manufacturing Orders
  • Physical Inventory
  • Purchasing
  • Barcoding

EXT does not create a separate manufacturing system. It extends selected MISys Manufacturing transactions to browser-enabled devices throughout your operation.

Less Paper. Less Delayed Entry. Better Manufacturing Data.

When manufacturing activity happens on the floor but data entry happens later in the office, information can quickly become outdated.

MISys EXT helps close that gap.

Employees can record inventory movements, production activity, labor, receipts and other transactions closer to the moment they actually occur.

That can help manufacturing teams:

  • Reduce handwritten transaction sheets
  • Reduce duplicate data entry
  • Improve transaction timing
  • Improve inventory accuracy
  • Give supervisors more current production information
  • Make barcode-supported workflows easier to implement

Use the Device That Fits the Job

MISys EXT runs through a browser interface, giving manufacturers flexibility in the devices used throughout the operation.

Depending on your environment and workflow, employees can access EXT from:

  • Tablets
  • Smartphones
  • Laptops
  • Shop-floor computers
  • Other web-enabled devices

That lets you choose the device that makes sense for receiving, inventory, production, physical counts and other manufacturing activities.

Sales and Manufacturing Inventory Transfers

MISys EXT can also support transfers of item quantities between manufacturing and sales inventory, including Sales Transfers performed as part of Work Order or Manufacturing Order processing where supported.

This functionality is currently available with supported integrations including:

MISys Manufacturing Integrates with Sage 50 US

MISys Manufacturing Integrates with Sage 50 Canada

MISys Manufacturing Integrates with Sage 300

MISys Manufacturing Integrates with Sage Intacct

How MISys EXT Works

MISys EXT works with your existing MISys Manufacturing installation rather than replacing it.

  • MISys Manufacturing remains installed on your existing server environment
  • MISys EXT uses Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Users access EXT through a web browser on the network environment you configure
  • MISys EXT requires both MISys EXT and MISys API licensing
  • Each active EXT login consumes a MISys User License
  • Bluetooth scanning devices can be used to populate fields
  • Supported Zebra Link-OS printers can be used for barcode label printing

MISys EXT gives you browser-based mobility without requiring you to move your manufacturing system to a hosted cloud platform.

Is MISys EXT Right for Your Operation?

MISys EXT may be especially valuable if:

  • Employees currently write down shop-floor activity and enter it later
  • Inventory transactions happen far from office computers
  • You want barcode scanning throughout the warehouse or production floor
  • Receiving employees need easier access to purchase order transactions
  • Production employees need to record Manufacturing Order activity
  • You use Shop Floor Control and want employees to record operations and labor directly
  • You want tablets or mobile devices available for physical inventory
  • You want browser-based access without replacing your existing MISys Manufacturing installation
